Contemplation | Print |  Email

Contemplation is the art of focusing the mind on one particular idea or object over an extended period. For example, if you must soon decide which type of car to buy, you will ponder the decision day and night. Even while talking about the weather, you may be subconsciously processing the research that you have done, or tuning into your intuition hoping to find an inspired decision. Just before you make your decision, it will feel as if you are eating, sleeping, and dreaming about your object of contemplation.

If the object of contemplation is harmonious with your higher purpose, then contemplating it will uplift your personality. If the idea carries your mind into stress, or takes you in a destructive direction in life, then the kundalini will be pulled into the cycle of struggle.

“We do not have the luxury of a negative thought.” Just as we are what we eat, we become what we think about all day. So eat purely and entertain only noble, inspired thoughts. Contemplation becomes a form of meditation when you consciously nurture a quiet, rested mind while you contemplate one simple, pure idea or ideal. Contemplation becomes mystical wonderment when the object of contemplation inspires a sense of beauty, reverent awe, or divine love. This is one of the oldest, most simple, and natural ways of entering various heightened, ecstatic states.
