Vows are promises to your higher Self. If you succeed even with a simple vow, inner strength grows. Vows are usually not very effective because most people lack soul-strength. If you study the lives of famous saints and successful people, you will see that they all made solemn vows at various stages of their lives—and did not look back. They succeeded because of their soul strength. Some patterns of living are obviously self-destructive; a form of self-abuse. If you deny a paradoxical aspect of your personality that appears to be destructive but is actually vital to your path, then your vow will not succeed in the long run. If you cannot feel the vow in every cell, then you are deceiving yourself. Find quiet time to do some soul-searching. Find the one aspect of your behavior that you are so tired of that every fiber of your being is saying, “It’s time to let that go.” You must make a solemn vow, a spiritual pact with your Self that will have a lasting alchemical effect on your mind and body. Empty your mind and look objectively into the mirror of your Soul to see what you must do. Enter a prayerful state in which you are open to receiving all the grace that you need for your vow to succeed. Grace gives you superhuman strength.
The Sleeping Smile Before you drift into sleep, use all your soul strength to solidify your vow into cellular memory. Feel, feel, feel a new life free of this old habit. Fall asleep with a smile and wake up with a bigger smile. In the morning spend ten minutes integrating this new Source of energy as you slumber into various altered states. This is a delightful time to generate extra strength to keep your vow—one day at a time. In focused prayer your thoughts are many times more powerful than usual. Do not get out of bed until you feel a source of strength more powerful than your struggling ego.
The Big Paradox Observe your mind and its tendencies to revert to old patterns. Do not deny or push away the old, simply watch its tendencies. Simultaneously, draw into yourself the beautiful qualities of grace. Sense its whirlwind, its magic, its silent wisdom and patient strength. Observe all the paradoxes of the mind as you tune into ever higher frequencies. Do not entertain the paradoxes, simply observe them like every other inner phenomenon. The higher the frequency of grace you enter, the more you will see its subtle paradoxes, and the more you will be tempted to follow them with your mind. Simply see life as one Big Paradox. Or, with a quiet mind, contemplate the paradoxical story of your life. Laugh every time your mind resists “life-as-it-is.” See the paradox that you are already whole, yet you need to meditate to realize this. Focus on the Heart or third eye to see the pure. |
